I have been very negligent about updating Ethan’s blog. It’s not that he hasn’t been doing wonderful things, it’s more that we’ve been enjoying all of his activities, rather than writing about them. But I do need to mark the passing of another school year.
Ethan only has two days and one hour of school left before he is done with second grade. It has been a very busy year, with lots of classroom activities and fun. His teacher, Ms. Sanders, is amazing. (We’re hoping the rumor that she may be moving up with them to be their teacher again next year is true.)
The past two weeks we have been packed with activities: Blaine Salutes the 70s (Ethan’s class performed Supertramp’s “Give a Little Bit”); the first-ever end of year picnic: BlainePalooza; and our last soccer game as an AYSO U8 (Ethan scored the last goal in the very decisive win). In class, Ethan has attended a talent show (they have another in-class talent show today), built a huge model Titanic in the classroom and memorized the lyrics to “The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald.”
He has become a scootering wizard, and spends much of his free time outside doing his loop (from the alley in the front, around the corner to the end of the block and back) and is getting very good at riding his bike on the street (with an escort) when we are out running from place to place.
He continues to be very good with the twins, when he isn’t being very bossy. And while 8 feels like the new 13, overall I would say that this has been a very good year.
