I'm not sure what brought this on, but Ethan is obsessed with smashed things right now -- cars, derailed trains, you name it. We go visit the body shop down the street nearly every day so he can see the smashed up cars, where they've been moved to, any work they've done on them. We also have been taking pictures of them, and he has quite a slideshow of them on his computer.
Likewise, we're very excited about derailed trains. I was able to find a good source of photos of derailed trains on the internet, so we also have a slideshow of derailed trains. (In addition, we have a slideshow of regular trains and one with bullet trains, another of model trains at the various botanic gardens we've been to, and one of flowers -- hey, he's diverse in at least one way.)
Thank goodness his obsession doesn't extend to actually smashing things. I don't mind looking at smashed things, but I'd prefer not to have all of our possessions broken. Although, maybe that's why he always wants to crack the eggs when we cook together … hmmm.
We're looking forward to our upcoming train vacation. Ethan is very excited about his first Amtrak ride. One of the big debates currently is whether we'll be on the Superliner or the Genesis (the only two Amtrak train names he knows, thanks to his "There Goes a Train" video). Since the video is now nearly 10 years old, I'm sure there are newer engines out there, but we'll probably just end up picking one and pretending, We're all very good at pretending,
